SUMMARY:IMSA Hyundai Monterey race: Apr 29-May 1
DESCRIPTION:IMSA has published the 2022 schedule and the Sports Car Championship at Laguna Seca is in the spring\, April 29-May1. \nPorsche at Turn 6: photo by Newsroom.Porsche \nFor 2022\, the GT series shifts to GT3 homologated cars with two classes\, GT3 Pro and GT3 Pro/am (essentially recent years’ GTD cars and class). Did you see the racing at the 24 hours at Daytona?   The racing should be more interesting and competitive over several makes.  Click here for a brief description of the GT classes for 2022 from IMSA directly.   The race will also include Dpi and LMP2 prototype classes.   There will be three more “support races”\, each of which will be entertaining:  The Michelin Challenge\, the Porsche Carrera Cup and a Lamborghini Cup (gives you time to go get lunch!) \n  \nYosemite Region plans Includes rooms at the Hacienda de Leal\, sold out.    And speaking of calling\, to buy your tickets to the race itself\, you have to call WeatherTech Raceway at 831-242-8200\, their on line system is not working.   Prices are $90 for a 3 day general admission & Paddock pass ($75 for Sat and Sun only)\, but you may have to buy tickets at the door if you don’t already have them.   Drop on by the PCA Porscheplatz tent at the inside of Turn #5\, just show your Porsche key/fob for admission.    Here is the track map showing the”blue parking” area for the Porsche corral and the Porscheplatz. \nJeff Rosenthal will have his RV on the outside of Turn 6\, serving as party central.   Other lodging is available (hey\, its NOT Car Week !).   We will be publishing times and spots at the track for members to rally to during the event. Contact Dave Boyd\, Jeff Rossenthal or Don Chaisson for more details. \nRegister here just so we can coordinate with folks and get an idea of who’s coming!

SUMMARY:Breakfast Meetup Feb 19
DESCRIPTION:Our first\, actual\, breakfast meetup for the year is set for Feb 19th.  This is our version of “Cars and Coffee”!   The management at Stockton Country Club has offered their facilities to the Yosemite Region and will make coffee and breakfast burritos to our members @ $15.00 per person..   Plan to gather and get everyone caught up on your recent holiday visits\, plans for 2022\, that sort of thing. We will gather at the Stockton Country Club between 8:30 and 10:30 AM. \nDirections to the Stockton GCC are pretty easy\, get off Interstate 5 at Country Club Drive and head West\, until you run into the club’s gate!  Pretty easy!  The facility is hard on the San Joaquin River\, so plan to have a couple of layers just in case you get a “chill”. \nWe would like a “head count” estimate to help the kitchen prepare for our group\, so please register on EventBrite\, with the number of people that will attend.   The cost of the breakfast items will be between you and Stockton CC\, so no pre-payment necessary. \nRegister on EventBrite at the GT3 Button.

SUMMARY:A Turkey and a "twenty" Food Drive.
DESCRIPTION:Mark Saturday\, November 13 on your calendar for a meetup in the Manteca area around 9am.   This is one of the truly “feel good” events from our Pandemic times where we organized “turkey drives” to the Food Bank.  So our board is making it an Annual Event. \nBetween now and then\, make plans to bring as many FROZEN turkeys as your frunk will hold\, along with dry goods and/or a money donation. After gathering in Manteca at 9:00 AM\, we’ll drive to Second Harvest Food Bank to unload our goods and donations. Then\, after the dropoff\, you’ll choose one of two (or three!) different drives into the foothills to end at the Copper Valley Town Square for a photo opportunity and a no-host lunch at Baldi’s or Gold Dust Pizza. (This year being “post-pandemic”\, we will be able to gather for an informal lunch after we drop off our food donations.) \nEventbrite registration will be free\, just so we can gauge how many people will be attending the event.  In the next few days–we’ll include a link to a list of dry/nonperishable goods the food bank needs. This will be a rain or shine event—if your car is already in hibernation\, bring the SUV or sedan\, or you can still donate locally and opt out of the drive and lunch. The food bank needs every donation we can provide.

SUMMARY:New Member BBQ Sept 12th
DESCRIPTION:Our past president\, Chuck Pierce\, started a Yosemite “signature” event a few years ago\, the New (and Old) Member’s BBQ gathering.   COVID cancelled any hope of such an event last year\, but we are excited to announce that we have settled on a date and place for this signature event for 2021! \nThe date will be Sunday\, Sept 12th\, arrive at 11:00 AM.  Location\, St Jorge Winery in Acampo\, CA\, in their amphitheater.  Details for menu/catering options still in the development stage. \nThis is a chance for the region to recognize and welcome “new” members who have joined in the recent year(s) and invite “old” members to join in a celebration of the region growth.    Incidentally\, Yosemite region was one of only two regions in Zone 7 that had an increase in membership in 2020.  That alone is something to celebrate. \nclick here to be redirected to the Eventbrite registration site.

SUMMARY:Yosemite/Tenaya Lodge (multi-day) Event
DESCRIPTION:Our signature Yosemite National Park visit will be a three day\, 2 night stay at the 4 diamond Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp\, on the door of the Yosemite National Park.  Registration is closed\, but watch YOS.PCA.ORG for reports on the trip!  \nItinerary  \nFriday\, May 14\, 12:00.   We will assemble at Smokey’s Neighborhood Grill\, 501 Bangs Ave\, Modesto.   Members may get there early and enjoy a quick lunch at Smokey’s before we head out on Drive #1.   The route will take a few “new” roads out before a “rest stop” in Mariposa.  Then continue to the Lodge\, again on “new” roads and then a blast up Hwy 41 to Fish Camp.   Once at the Lodge\, we will park our cars in a specially designated parking area in front of the Lodge; then check in and settle in our rooms.   Before we gather for the Lodge’s 4 course dinner\, served in our own dinning room/area\, we might huddle in small groups to share some adult beverages and get caught up on all that is news of the day.   During registration\, you will select your entree of either New York Strip Steak w/ mashed potatoes & seasonal vegetables\, chimichurri sauce\, OR Bucatini Pasta in tomato vodka sauce\, grilled vegetables w/ shaved Parmesan cheese.   After dinner\, we are free to continue to gather or just turn in for the night. \nSaturday\, May 15.   \nBreakfast:  8:00 – 9:00 (timing may change) We will gather for a hot breakfast of scrambled eggs with bacon\, house potatoes\, danish or toast in the Lodge and prepare for the day’s activities:  two to choose from. \nActivity 1)  Take a relaxing drive into the park and enjoy spring time in the Yosemite Valley.  Water falls should be roaring (louder if we get more rain soon!) and the walks to Mirror Lake cool and relaxing.  More strenuous hikes are always an option.  Lunch will be on your own. \nOR \nActivity 2)  We will be leading a more lively drive into Fresno County past Bass Lake\,  through New Auberry and Alder Springs and stopping for lunch (no host) at Table Mountain Casino and Golf course.  Then the “loop” will take us back past Bass Lake (via a different route) and then back to Hwy 41 and Tenaya Lodge. \nAfter relaxing in our rooms\, we will again gather for another 4 course dinner at the Lodge.  Entree choices will be:  Roaster Chicken Breast\, boursin cheese\, roasted corn bread pudding\, vegetables\, honey herb jus\, roasted red pepper puree\, OR Vegetable Wellington (zucchini\, eggplant\, butternut squash\, onion\, spinach\, garlic feta cheese) with a port syrup mashed potatoes. \nSunday May 16: \nBefore check out\, the Lodge will serve a Continental “to go” breakfast (Yogurt\, Danish\, Fruit) that you may enjoy with other Yosemite members\, or take with you to continue exploring the area or Yosemite Valley or for your return trip to your “home base”. \nRegistration priority will be given to Yosemite Region members through March 29 before making the trip available to members of our neighboring regions; but registration will CLOSE on April 4th!   That said\, we expect our block of rooms to sell out quickly\, after all\, the Spring Treffen to Scottsdale sold all reservations in “9 minutes” — yes\, all spots (@100) gone in less than a couple hot laps around Laguna Seca !! \nTo register\, click on the GT3 registration button below to be directed to our Eventbrite event.  Note:  Registration begins March 17th 7:00 PM.    \nAt registration\, a $850 ($799.69 + Eventbrite fees) down payment to Eventbrite will cover your first night’s lodging\, food and various fees/taxes. The balance due of $310—your second hotel night—can be paid with a credit card at check-in/check-out. \nCOVID-19\nBecause Yosemite Region and PCA value everyone’s safety\, all state\, county and local requirements and guidelines will be adhered to for the event. Additionally\, all members will remain “socially distant” as practical and will wear masks when not in their cars. During meals\, we will practice “distancing” as needed.  If the environment changes before or a situation develops during an event where it cannot be done safely\, we will cancel the event. \n
