Drive (only) to Yosemite NP, Sept 20
Our plan is to assemble in Oakdale early Sunday morning Sept 20. The drive out will be casual and with highway traffic we expect the group to be separated at times. Members are encouraged to make their bathroom stops and coffee breaks in advance. We won’t be making any planned stops but our meetup point in the park will give everyone flexibility if separated. Note that most Park stores and services are open but under social distancing rules.
Details for the drive are still being worked out and should be finalized in the next two weeks. If you have any questions, feel free to email Brian using the Contact form.
ALERT !!! Entrance to Yosemite NP is by “reservation” only. All advance reservations have sold out, but a small number (@300) will go on sale 7:00 AM Sept 18. If you don’t have a reservation, the rangers will not allow you to enter the park at their gate!!
Santa Cruz Stay and Drive Event Oct 9-11
Yosemite Region invites you to participate in a three-day driving experience, and stay at the Chaminade Spa and Resort for two nights at the hotel. The drive portion of the event will traverse spectacular vistas, interesting tree lined roads and areas we don’t usually get to visit. We are planing a visit to Canepa’s in Scotts Valley where we can view the showroom and restoration center, Pandemic permitting!
This event will be limited to 15 cars and we anticipate selling out quickly after opening for registration. Registration will open July 25th at 10:00 AM. Watch for reminders in your email!
Date” TBD Sierra Foothills Drive and Winery Dinner.
This drive was set to go, but Yosemite Region was not given the needed insurance coverage in time to confirm the event. BUT, Prospect 772 winery is still very interested in hosting us at the winery, so, we are looking to RESCHEDULE the event. As a review, the drive was to start in the Escalon area mid-afternoon drive into the Sierra foothills and finish with a casual outdoor dinner at Prospect 772 Winery. The event will be “outdoors”, practice “social distancing” and adhere to (evolving) procedures for events in these times.
